Guidelines

  1. Purpose & Administration

    • The selection is conducted in accordance with the university’s Teaching Assistant Implementation Guidelines and is managed by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).
    • CTL is responsible for organizing TA training sessions and performance evaluations.
  2. Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

    • The primary role of a Teaching Assistant (TA) is to support faculty members in teaching-related activities, such as course preparation, post-class tutoring, leading group discussions, and demonstrations.
    • Specific duties include:
      • Preparing teaching materials
      • Assisting with grading
      • Managing and maintaining the course learning platform (not limited to the university’s e-learning system)
      • Documenting the teaching process (in text or visual formats)
      • Providing additional academic and learning support
  3. Training & Evaluation

    • CTL organizes 3 to 4 TA training workshops per semester.
    • Evaluation criteria are set by the course instructor.
    • TAs must:
      • Submit an application form at the beginning of the semester
      • Complete a mid-semester online satisfaction survey
      • Submit a final evaluation form at the end of the semester
    • A TA Review Committee will conduct the final assessment, selecting two outstanding TAs per semester:
      • Gold Award: NT$5,000 and a certificate
      • Silver Award: NT$3,000 and a certificate
  4. Application Process

    • Application Deadline: Now until September 30, 2024 (Monday)

    • Submission:

      • Send the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Selection Application Form via email to CTL contact person at mizu118220@academic.tnua.edu.tw
      • Email subject should be "112-2 Semester Outstanding Teaching Assistant Selection"
      • The application form can be downloaded from the CTL website under "Resources"
    • Eligibility:

      • Applications must be submitted by the course instructor
      • Only TAs actively involved in assisting with course instruction or management are eligible
      • Employment type is not restricted (including part-time assistants and student workers)

    • The Teaching Assistant Implementation Guidelines and Outstanding Teaching Assistant Selection Application Form are attached for reference.
